They hadn’t really imagined a future as blacksmiths when they started on Basic Course 1.
It was mostly to try it out, and it turned out to be a surprisingly good match.
They quickly got hooked on the profession and chose the same study program. They were initially here with us for a week as interns, before it was later changed to an apprenticeship.
Today, they work with welding and assembly for companies in the food industry and offshore sector, among others. They go out to customers, take measurements, sketch solutions, and assemble them afterward. They find that combination appealing.
“” Assembly is cool, and you’re involved all the way. Going out and measuring, drawing a solution, making it, and assembling it. I like that you have to think for yourself and come up with solutions,“” says Magnus.
Most assembly tasks are solved with a partner, but the apprentices also work independently. And that’s something they really appreciate:
“” We are allowed to do a lot. We are challenged and get the responsibility we want. You feel like you’re accomplishing something,“” explains Viktor.
Both Magnus and Viktor emphasize how much the social aspect means in everyday life. Here in the company, there is a short distance between apprentice and journeyman.
“” We talk young and old. You can make fun of each other, both ways.“”
The good camaraderie doesn’t stop at closing time. Viktor and Magnus regularly participate in social events, including the so-called apprentice club, where our apprentices get trips out of the house.
“” We apprentices have a really good community. In the apprentice club, we recently went go-karting, and now we’re going on a fishing trip soon. The focus is on us having a good time together.“”
Magnus and Viktor have not only found an apprenticeship that makes sense professionally, but also socially:
“” We have made real friendships out of it.“”
